Footprint Information

Footprint Information

In Giki Zero you can add as much, or as little, information as you want to get a more personalised carbon footprint. The more information you add the more your carbon footprint estimate will reflect your life.

Watch THIS video to see how you can personalise your footprint.

You should update the information in your footprint when you first set up your account and when things change. This includes:

  1. At the start of a new calendar year if you expect a change in your lifestyle (e.g. less flying, a change in diet)
  2. When you have new, more accurate, information that you'd like to be included (e.g. electricity meter reading)
  3. When you complete a step that has an impact on your footprint (e.g. renewable electricity).

How to add information to Footprints

Adding information to footprints is quick and simple. Click on the 'footprints' section in the top navigation:

  • Select the footprint that you'd like to add information to
  • Follow the instructions which helps you decide whether to estimate your footprint (by answering questions) or add actual data (e.g. details on meter readings).
  • You can switch between estimating your footprint or adding actual data at any time
  • When you've completed a footprint it shows as white. If you still have information to input, it shows as purple

Why add information?

The more information that you add to Giki Zero the better so we can estimate what your environmental footprint is. This will help you see which areas are the most important to focus on. Entering information also helps to raise awareness of the impact of all the decisions we make in day-to-day life.
